In September 2020 I started my PhD in Fine Arts, specializing in Multimedia Arts, at Lisbon's Fine Arts College, FBAUL.
I've been a cosplayer since 1996, around half of my life, and that's one of my biggest motivations to choose cosplay as a research theme. I'll be doing a Research Through Practice, which took me to create this blog, to report every aspect of my costume making practice, and everything else directly related to the costumes I'll be making.
I'll be identifying every costume with separate tags and in every post title. Because I started some of the relevant costumes prior to September 2020, I'll be making retrospective posts for every action I took, based on my photos, Instagram stories and my own memory. I'll be adding each past post with it's true date, although I'll be writing them in the "future". When I catch up, I'll be writing them "live". I'll try to illustrate each post with WIP photos too. In every post I'll note the positive and negative points in each action I took and some conclusions and a cunning plan (yes, quoting Black Adder's Baldrick).
In the right column, besides the usual search and Blog History features, I will be adding relevant links to my research project.
Why in English? Because I don't know if this blog's future use will be for the PhD only, and to practice writing in English. But, I'll probably try to write the Portuguese specific vocabulary too, or I will elaborate a glossary, because I feel some specialist Portuguese vocabulary is being overcome by the English, through the common use of the Internet to research for tutorials and how-tos.
For now, this blog isn't public, it's Invitation Only, but this might change in the future.
ENJOY!
